In accordance to the VCAA Economics Study Design (10-14), students in our Economics Unit 3 and Unit 4 courses will be taught to grasp the key knowledge and attain the essential skills required for them to:
- explain how markets operate to allocate scarce resources
- discuss the extent to which markets operate freely in Australia
- explain the nature and importance of key economic goals in Australia
- describe the factors that may have influenced the achievement of these key economic goals over the past four years.
- analyse the impact each of these goals may have on living standards
- explain the nature and operation of government macroeconomic demand management policies
- explain the relationship between budgetary and monetary policies
- explain the nature and operation of government aggregate supply policies
- consider the current government policy mix
- analyse how different government policies may be used to achieve key economic goals and improve Australian living standards
