English
In accordance to the VCAA English Study Design (07-12), students in our English Unit 3 and Unit 4 courses will acquire the ability to:
- analyse, both orally or in writing, how a selected text constructs meaning, conveys ideas and values, and is open to a range of interpretations
- develop and justify a detailed interpretation of a selected text
- draw on ideas and arguments suggested by a chosen context to create written texts for a specified audience and purpose
- acknowledge and comprehend the distinctive requirements of form, purpose, language, audience and context of different pieces of writing
- analyse the use of language in texts that present a point of view on an issue currently debated within the Australian media, and construct a sustained and reasoned point of view on a selected issue
English (ESL)
In accordance to the VCAA English as a Second Language (ESL) Study Design (07-12), students in our ESL Unit 3 and Unit 4 courses will acquire the ability to:
- analyse, both orally or in writing, how a selected text constructs meaning, conveys ideas and values, and is open to a range of interpretations
- develop and justify a detailed interpretation of a selected text
- draw on ideas and arguments suggested by a chosen context to create written texts for a specified audience and purpose
- acknowledge and comprehend the distinctive requirements of form, purpose, language, audience and context of different pieces of writing
- analyse the use of language in texts that present a point of view on an issue currently debated within the Australian media, and construct a sustained and reasoned point of view on a selected issue
In addition to VCAA requirements, our bilingually trained tutors will help students with weak English backgrounds to rapidly improve their English literacy through our specially designed learning schemes.
English Language
In accordance to the VCAA English Language Study Design (06-11), students in our English Language Unit 3 and Unit 4 courses will acquire the ability to:
- analyse a range of attitudes to language varieties
- determine how language variation reflects its users and contribute to a sense of identity
- identify the ways in which language features are used in societal interaction
- analyse variations in language use
- identify and analyse distinctive features of spoken English texts involving more than one speaker
- identify and analyse distinctive features of written English texts
